The commonly: accepted answer is that LABILE (episodic) hypertension does not cause hypertensive heart disease...I believe that has been "debunked" and the general answer now is that there are medications which regularize episodic hypertension AFTER the REASON for this blood pressure picture  is determined and certain medical conditions ruled out!

i  struggle with anxiety and panic attacks and have elevated blood presssure when i'm stressed. my blood pressure returns to normal, but i was wondering if episodic high blood pressure can cause an enlarged heart like hypertension can. ?

Stress management: Frequent spikes in blood pressure (labile hypertension)are harmful but may not cause enlargement of the left ventricle such as occurs in longstanding sustained hypertension. I recommend stress management therapy for you as well as careful follow-up by your MD who will guide you on diet,etc.

Call your Doctor: Neither. Please contact your physician. This is a medication management issue and your physician needs to be contacted, not the er.

Probably not.: Unless blood pressure is very, very high, it does not tend to pose an immediate risk. High blood pressure otherwise tends to pose a cardiovascular risk when it is sustained over at least some weeks or months. Temporary increases, like yours, tend to be a part of normal life, in temporary excitement or exercise. So you don't need to panic about this!

Anxiety: Are you under the care of a physician?  Do you actually have high blood pressure or are you checking it because you have anxiety about your health?    Are you saying that your pulse is 144?     It sounds like you need medication or at least a really good strategy for managing your anxiety.  If your doctor hasn't told you to check your blood pressure, I think it your case it would be better not to.

Depend on severity : You have severe pulmonary hypertension. Many causes,  but by your history probably due to pulmonary embolism. Can be idiopathic, due to left heart disease, lung disease, thromboembolic disease and multifactorial. Treatment include oxygen, anticiagulation, diuretics, ca blockers, phosphodiesterase inhibitors, inhaled nitric oxide, prostacyclin. Talk to your doctor, if severe, surgery is an option.

i recently was in a abusive relationship and unfortunately my head took some hits. i have noticed that the vein on my left temple is bulging. i do have high blood pressure and an enlarged heart. is this something i should be concerned about?

: Yes.  Keep your BP under control. For ever 5 mm Hg you bring it down you will decrease your risk of HEART, kidney and brain event including death by 10%.  Discuss this in detail with your Dr.,
