my scalp was itching like crazy and got sores from scratching so i washed my scalp with ivory bar soap and it stopped. why is that? washing stops it.

Itching: If you are sweating a lot the scalp can get very irritated and inflamed. But sometimes the scalp get inflamed from just being dry. Medicated shampoos help (like neutrogena t gel or Nizoral (ketoconazole) which are over the counter). If this does not help, i suggest being evaluated for dermatitis along the scalp which is a common and treatable condition.

Nerve irritation: Burning pain frequent results from a nerve irritation. Not sure why your nerves are irritated, but that might be found out by taking more history and doing physical exam. Side effect of a medicine is another plausible cause.

Use creamy bar soap: you definitely cannot be allergic to everything, yes you may be reacting to many chemicals included in the shampoos, but unscented ones can be helpful, you can try on a small area first wait for 48 hours, if no reaction continue, otherwise you need to see a dermatologist or an allergist, good luck

May not be best: Dial isn't the name most would recommend for sensitive skin, given its traditional product has scent and coloring additives. However a new line might prove itself. Less so for hair. Patch tests can identify allergy to chemicals in shampoos and conditioners, and may help you find hair products that don't trigger allergic contact dermatitis.

i've scalp folliculitis, used bactroban (mupirocin) ointment 3wks &cloxacillin 3x/day for 1wk bt still grows more, shld i continue both?will dr.kaufman xps soap help

No: I find that scalp folliculitis is treated best with a topical prescription antibiotic such as Clindamycin solution. Sometimes, an oral antibiotic is needed as well.

Dry Scalp: You can  use aveno cream on your scalp. A good conditioner would also be helpful such as avlon keracare dry ; itchy scalp conditioner.

is it ok to use dettol anti bacterial soap on scalp to prevent reoccurring  folliculitis caused by bacteria?

Ok: For prevention,wash  twice daily using warm water and the antibacterial soap like dettol. Use a fresh towel each time. Also avoid sweating and friction in areas of skin prone to folliculitis.
