You need to go to th: The er tonight or call your gyn as you need an exam , blood work to r/ o preg and to see how anemic u are and to check other hormones, and a pelvic ultrasound and then the proper treatment can be prescribed.

Yes: Anemia can be treated with iron supplementation. The key though is to fix the underlying cause. Discuss treatment options for heavy periods with your obgyn. If you still want children then birth control pills can lighten the cycle.. If you are done with pregnancies you may be a candidate for an in office endometrial ablation to lighten or stop your cycles.

Two issues: Please see your doctor for the prolonged bleeding to find the cause and have proper treatment.
You may take over the counter iron pills 2-3 times a day, as tolerated, take the pills withe meals.

Yes: These parameters can be a result of iron deficiency anemia, but are only lab values, and not sufficient alone to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Serum iron and binding levels would be helpful, along with more clinical info and a full detailed history and perhaps a trial of supplementation.  Good luck.

Yes: Most women who are menstruating lean toward iron deficiency. Any Iron supplement should suffice. If combined with Vitamin C, iron absorption is about 90%. Without Vitamin C, iron absorption can be as low as 10%. Vitamin C also help avoid constipation, a frequent complaint from women on iron supplements.

Absolutely: You would probably benefit from taking an iron supplement.  Speak to your doctor about perhaps started birth control pills.  It's actually a common reason why it is initiated in young women.  The pill usually makes your period shorter and lighter, and would certainly help the anemia from getting worse.

Yes: The next two common areas to investigate would be loss of blood through the gastrointestinal tract or lack of iron entering the GI tract - either due to dietary insufficiency or other causes which can interfere with absorption from the GI tract.
