No. Its not normal.: U would need a detailed examination and scans to ascertain the cause of your symptoms. 
Have you been seen by an orthopod or a Hand surgeon?
The cause might be a nerve injury or Reflex Sympathetic dystrophy (also called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), which some people are prone  to develop after an injury or surgery. Once Diagnosed a Neurologist would be able to help.

The majority of the population can function properly at their jobs with a wrist sprain-some exceptions may exist i.e. heavy construction work, jackhammer operator, etc. Remember: rest, ice compression and elevation to help with the symptoms.

Sprained wrist: Assuming you have a sprained wrist then when your wrist no longer hurts on movement remove the tape and be very gentle for two days and if no pain use your hand normally. If you begin with pain in the two days of limited use seek medical care or resume your tape for another week.
