Laser or meds best: Other than for a very isolated area of the nail, homemade remedies usually don't work as it takes at least six months for the nail to grow without exposure to nail fungus to stay clean. Even when treated with medication, the fungus often returns. New laser treatments can offer some cosmetic improvement, but usually don't completely eradicate the fungus. Meds are known to be toxic but work.

Clotrimazole cream: Try over the counter clotrimazole cream 2 X each day for 10 days.  If  there is still a problem then you should go to your dermatologist to get the skin tested and make sure it is a fungus that is causing your problems.

No: Toenail fungus requires prolonged treatment with an oral fungicide; basically, you can't treat the fungus already in the nail, but you can impregnate growing nail with antifungals. Soaking your feet with listerine is not recommended and may lead to skin irritation/inflammation.

Rx is best: Particularly oral terbinafibe but that's once it's a confirmed fungus by lab testing. Many cases of thick or ugly nails may not be fungus.

Evaluation: Sounds like you have a fungal infection. Would be good idea to be evaluated as there is medication available for all of these conditions. A physician may also need to perform a biopsy or culture as well.

There : There is a possiblity. You also might have psoriasis. My recommendation would be to either visit a podiatrist or a dermatologist and have them take a skin biopsy of your feet and send it to pathology to discover exactly what type of skin condition you have. Based on that, a proper treatment plan and medication can be administered to treat it.

Very unlikely: Toe nail and/or foot fungus would not cause to lose a foot unless there were other complicating factors such as severe vascular insufficiency.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Fungus is everywhere: Usually fungus infections of the skin will take 7-14 days to resolve wtih a good topical antifungal using it appropriately.  If you are not consistent it is hard to get rid of it.  Once it does clear you have to continue to use a topical on a regular basis to keep it from returning.  If you are suseptible to the fungus, it is likely to return without regular treatment.
