Laser or meds best: Other than for a very isolated area of the nail, homemade remedies usually don't work as it takes at least six months for the nail to grow without exposure to nail fungus to stay clean. Even when treated with medication, the fungus often returns. New laser treatments can offer some cosmetic improvement, but usually don't completely eradicate the fungus. Meds are known to be toxic but work.

Apply antifungal : Agent. Sometimes you might need to make sure that you are not recontaminating from your shoes and so you might have to purchase something to ensure your shoes are fungal free. But, try the antifungal creams first readily available at the pharmacy.
