Subdural hematoma: It is size dependent  if untreated. I suspect your  doctor felt small. Damage caused by pressure on brain..Symptoms usually within 48 hrs  altho case from chicago childrens caused symptoms over a week later. Symptoms can be as as mild as headace altho rare or difiiculty using opposite side of body or signs of increased brain pressure such as lethargy and vomiting.

It depends: Blood can collect just beneath the thick covering of the brain.  This covering is called dura, and blood under this is called subdural hematoma.  In acute trauma there can be a large collection of blood with swelling and severe brain damage.  In minor trauma just a small thin layer of blood collects without much effect.  Chronic blood can dissolve to clear fluid and leave a chronic subdural.

How extensive was: her subdural hematoma (SDH)? Is she conscious or in coma now? Very sorry to hear about your mom's fall. The real issue along with that is the herniation in the brain. That is what's serious as that's not reversible, and can put further strain and pressure on the brain. Do spend as much time with her as you can. She's in critical condition. Prayers for miracles are needed!

Minimal: Ct scans do emit radiation.  This is in a really small dose.  Your risk of developing brain cancer after 6 ct scans is negligible.
I wouldn't give it another thought.

: The issues are separate but seem contradictory. One statement relates to a blood collection in the space underneath the brain covering layer.  The other statement implies that no injury to the working brain tissue occurred. Normocephalic just means the shape is normal. Atraumatic means there is no evidence of trauma. I would discuss this with the ordering doc, it is confusing.

: Craniotomy is the surgical technique for most patients with acute subdural hematoma who undergo hematoma evacuation.
Craniectomy may be used for patients with acute subdural hematoma who also have cerebral edema or brain herniation to prevent further morbidity from brain herniation.
