Can subdural hematoma lead to brain dysfunction?

Possibly: The brain can be damaged if the hematoma is severe enough. In fact, it can be fatal.

Yes: The subdural hematoma if present for a long time and sufficiently large can compress the underlying brain leading to local ischemia and shift of the brain. This can lead to damage to the underlying structures. Even if it is evacuated, there can still be long-term sequelae--ie. Brain disabilities.
