ast 75 and alt 87 and ggt 104 are these considered high? if so, what should i do? i did just have the stomach flu and was told that this could elevate these numbers? and lipase was 501? crp also high at 34.6?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if you do not have any symptoms, you may watch and wait and repeat the tests in 3-6 months.     Wish you good health!

how often can i take electrolyte supplement? had a bad stomach bug wk ago.taken a few packs since then and have felt remarkably better every day. when i went to the doctor last year, i had slightly low electrolyte levels. should i take one daily?

: If you feel otherwise healthy then a normal diet and fluid intake should suffice and no need to take any supplements. However if you feel more comfortable taking it - then one pack should do it. Always follow your docs recommendations. good luck

my fiancee and i both have a horrible stomach bug - is there any way to avoid giving it to my one month old daughter? i don't want to get her sick...

Wash your hands: Constantly!  Try to use sanitizer before you touch her. Of you have someone close to you that can keep her, even better. In addition, if you are breast feeding, make sure to give her your milk- you will be making antibodies against this in a few short days. Good luck.

can you have meningitis & not know it? feel unbalanced when i get out of bed. been in bed for 3 days with a supposed stomach bug. haven't vomited tho.

Meningitis: Common symptoms of meningitis include fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea or vomiting, having light bother a person's eyes. If you experience these symptoms, please kindly rush to emergency room. Your feelings of unbalance could be from dehydration, please kindly drink plenty of fluids with electrolytes, please see your physician for an evaluation as well.

Probably the latter: You generally will not be ill two days in a row from overeating, but anything is possible.  Only time will tell.

Generalized: Symptoms such as fever and generalized weakness may accompany viral infections. Upper gi symptoms, such as nausea or vomiting may be present as well. Good hand hygiene would prevent transmission.

i have gastritis and im unsure if its a flare or i have a stomach bug.but why isnt zofran helping my nausea?

: Zofran is not always working especially if you have a food poisoning or acute gastroenteritis. Nausea/vomit is not common in chronic gastritis. Warm tea with fresh ginger slices added may ease the nauseous feeling. Take care.

Lots of stomach bugs: But "stomach pain" can be caused by lots of things &amp; may indeed originate outside the GI tract. If persistent, further evaluation in order.  Your doctor will want to re-examine you as well as know the quality, timing, duration, exact location &amp; associations (eating, position, activity, stooling, urinating) of your pain to better direct treatment and/or the right testing.

Pretty easy: If you are around others that have a viral stomach illness they tend to be very contagious. It is important to wash your hands, not share cups, drinks, utensils , foods, towels or tools.

Med eval: If you are having frequent, chronic symptoms - it may not  be due to  viral infections. If this is the case, it would be prudent to be medically evaluated to determine the cause.
