Not very serious.: Hey blood-filled for hemorrhagic cyst is not uncommon. If it is not painful then it can be observed to see if it will resolve without treatment.  If a hemorrhagic cyst causes pain or does not resolve and it may need to be removed surgically.  Hope this helps.

would a pelvic ultrasound show when a dermoid ovarian cyst has ruptured? what would it show?

Rupture is serious: Dermoids can have hair and teeth in them,  so are complex on U/S,. The black stuff in the picture is hair. They often grow slowly but rarely rupture. If so, it's like appendicitis and needs immediate surgery.
U/S is a good screen for ovarian masses, but with a "surgical pelvis" CT is done. An early sign of impending rupture on U/S might be fluid in the pelvis, but this is not diagnostic.

It depends: Certain features make it highly likely that a cystic lesion is benign(e.g. a small "simple cyst"), and others make it more likely to be malignant.  There is significant overlap between benign and malignant features, so at times it is impossible to tell.  Other times the appearance is so characteristic that benignity/malignancy can be predicted fairly reliably. Age and other findings also factor in

how soon can a pelvic ultrasound tell if your preganant?  can a corpus lutem be a early sign of pregenacy? can a ovarian cyst be a very early sign?

4 weeks: Earlier ultrasound can show signs such as thickened endometrium but pregnancy cannot be confirmed until a gestational sac is seen. A yolk sac & embryo are more diagnostic but may not be seen until later. An HCG level of 1, 000 should correlate with a gest sac. A cl or ovarian cyst occur with ovulation so are not early signs of pregnancy. Take care.

why would my doc change my pelvic ultrasound to a ct scan? they thought it was a ovarian cyst. but the pain occurred on 11/10 after lifting at the gym. would scan show a hernia or a cyst if thats the issue? im on low dose bcp?

Trust pelvic US: Every woman differs, but usually 6-8 weeks. You might want to temporarily ease off sexual activity until you are pain free. If pain worsens or fever, seek medical attention. Doubt it has connection to appendix even though pain is in same general area. Good luck, heal soon.

hello! i had a pelvic ultrasound (non transvaginal) and it showed a cyst on my right ovary of 4 cm. are pelvic ultrasounds sufficient enough to show ovarian cysts without transvaginal? i turned the vaginal one. doc wants to monitor cyst?

: Ovarian cysts are quite common and some may disappear without intervention. Your doctor's approach to watch and wait is appropriate.

: At your age and the radiologist's conclusion is bilateral ovarian cysts so those cysts are considered benign cysts.
