The reflux: Is a distraction form the menses, just take med regularly for that.  Ca-125 not helpful really in your age group, normal anyway.  The heavy menses may be part of a transition form nomral ovulation to no ovulation known as perimenopause, unlikely though.  You may have uterine fibroids, which grow with age but a low dose contraceptive pill along with good med for reflux may save you much concern, go.

Fnctionl vs physical: The UGI can add evidence of the "function" of the GI tract vs. The physical features seen on scope.  One may see evidence of active reflux or watch the process of swallowing and the timing of gastric emptying.  The small bowel follow thru goes beyond where a scope can see giving the doctor info about the small intestine.

Also it may be used in someone too sick to tolerate a scope proceedure.

Same as colonoscopy: There is no additional prep for the upper scope.

Very: Each procedure is taken seriously and most will not look at anything other than what they are doing at the moment.

my gi doc ordered me an ab ultrasound for today. colonoscopy in two weeks just to "ease my mind". is that a long time and is an ab utrs reliable?

Colonoscopy: Is the best test to look for colon cancer or polyps.  Two weeks is a reasonable time to wait to do a colonoscopy, especially if the GI doctor thinks you are low risk. Abdominal ultrasound was probably not ordered to look at the colon directly.  Ultrasound is reliable for evaluating many of the abdominal organs including the liver, gallbladder, spleen and kidneys.

could front right lower abdominal pain be caused by endometriosos? my gi doesn't think its a gi problem same with my gyno and a colonoscopy was fine.

Mucus on stool: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, &amp; even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum, among others.

Other structures : in that area: ovary, fallopian tube, ureter, or other pelvic conditions. Gynecologist input would help decipher what's wrong, good luck

Has he had a CT Scan: He sould see his doctor to get a CAT scan if he has not yet had one done.
