No: Ganglion cysts should be benign lesions that are more cosmetic in nature than anything else. Rarely, they can cause some function limitations but i've never heard of one "burning" before. They can be drained, excised or ignored. Chat w/your family doc to make sure you're actually referring to ganglion cyst.

: You seem to have some complications post surgery. Unfortunately that happens at times. Discuss sitution with your surgeon. If dissatisfied the get another doc.

Good sign: Dead nerve do not hurt.  The dysesthesia you describe means the nerve is working - just not too well.  It is trying to recover from injury.  It should recover with time and appropriate care.  You may use local anesthetic cream to help numb it during the recovery.

Excision: Excision is usually curative other option is aspiration but reoccurrence is a problem. If it is not bothering you then you  don't need any treatment.

Splinting: Splinting can decrease joint trauma and inflammation and reduce size and irritation from a ganglion, but does not predictably make it go away.

May be: Ganglion cyst , will some times disappears but not always, usually require surgical  excision. Treatment with aspiration will not cure, real danger is possibility of infection into wrist joint. Hitting with a book is no no, will  cause damage the adjacent  structures.

Not likely: Although the cyst may be there, it does not mandate further care either. If there is growth or symptoms like pain or pressure, see a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon to discuss further options on care.

Not much: Very few things can come and go like a ganglion cyst.  Because ganglions are filled with joint fluid, and are connected to the joint, the amount of fluid in the cyst can vary rather quickly.  Not much else will do this.  Any type of solid mass would not change quickly.  Sudden bleeding into a tumor may make it increase insize, but not go down.  Allergic reactions like a hive can come and go fast.
