No: If a ventral hernia becomes stuck (incarcerated), it can block off the blood supply to a part of the intestines, which can then turn in to gangrene and bleed. This is associated with severe pain.  Hope this helps!

Not directly: The most common type of hernia (in the groin) would not cause intestinal bleeding unless the intestine were strangled in the hernia -- and this would cause many more problems than simple bleeding.  Hiatal  herniae can facilitate acid refluxing into the esophagus which may lead to ulcers or erosions which may case esophageal bleeding, but not usually intestinal.  Why do you ask?

i had a cesarean in sept that tore and caused internal bleeding. that healed and i had a hernia from the incision tear that didnt go all the way through my abdominal wall. why do i still have constant pain and bruising 3 months after the repair?

Scar tissue: and the healing, remodeling, rehealing process, can go on for a year, to finally healed. If pain worsens or persists, see your doctor.

Hernia: It is not "normal" but it can be related if the hernia is causing intermittent blockage of the colon or small intestine or stomach.
 
Some para-esophageal hernias can have intermittent gastric torsion and bleeding associated with that.

Not usually: Hernias of the abdominal wall should be surgically repaired. Serious complication can occur - including the hernia growing larger and trapping bowel within it.  When that happens the hernia is painful and dangerous. 
Bleeding is not common - it does occur if bowel is trapped.  Please do see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

if a hiatal hernia causes anemia from bleeding. what is best treatment? i was placed on iron supplement and a daily dose of omprazole. my iron has been normal so far and my blood levels  since placed on iron and daily anti acids. thank u?

HH and anemia: Ask if they found blood in stool. Discuss with ur team.

my husband is in his 50's, has an umbilical hernia(quite large), has put on several lbs. in the last 2- 3 months.  now bleeding from naval.  ? serious

Possibly: the weight gain may have thinned the skin and allowed it to become irritated more easily as well as put more pressure on it from the hernia. Need to see a surgeon now for evaluation and to prevent infection or involvement of the hernia itself.

Depends on: amount and nature of bleeding.  If it is large amount of fresh blood, you should go to nearest ED.
