hello doctor, my us scrotum and testicles exam showed epididymis cyst 0.4 cm on both left and right sides. can it be a cause of infertility?

Benign cysts: An epididymal cyst is fluid-filled sac which grows at the top end of the testicle  in the long, tightly coiled tube called epididymis. Cysts are benign (ie not caused by cancer). Usually in head of epididymis , may be one, bilateral, or multiple.  Larger ones can be removed by a surgeon, especially if painful. Epididymal cysts usually not associated with infertility.

Unlikely: Though epididymitis 'could' result in scarring and blockage of the sperm passageway (and infertility) in the affected testicle, if there is a normal testicle on the other, unaffected side, that testicle will be able to produce enough sperm to maintain fertility in most instances.

how likely is it for an injury to the testicles at a young age to cause future infertility?

Yes: Unfortunately this is possible.  Injuries which caused damage to the epididymis or the vas deferens can block the flow of sperm through the normal ducts and cause sterility.

i have a ball just above my testicle that feels just connected. it started on top and moved to bottom. can move quite freely. about size of a grape. it seems to grow and shrink at times. causes no pain. im hoping cyst. thoughts?

: The “ball” just above the testicle most likely represents either an epididymal cyst that is not on the testicle but on the cord that brings blood to the testicle, The second possibility is a hydroceal that is a benign cyst next to the testicle. The best way to evaluate this lump would be to have a testicular ultrasound and an evaluation by a urologist.

Possibly ...: Testicular injuries may or may not cause fertility problems in later life. If you're not trying to get pregnant assume he's 100% fertile. If you're planning to conceive he should get a full semen analysis with antisperm antibody testing to make sure that he doesn't have a low sperm count, or proteins on his sperm that can prevent them from fertilizing an egg - injury is a risk factor for these.

One is enough: One testis is enough  for fertilization, sperm count will be same volume will be less.

Accepted Answer

Cremaster ?'s: Even with cremaster contractions, one or both testicles are not subject to body temperature (37 degrees C.) so sperm are not inactivated.  See a urologist for a sperm analysis to be certain.  Unlikely that infertility is caused by cremaster contractions.
