No magic: There is no magic medicine for scars. Some say silicon gels or petroleum jelly/ointment, or Vit E oil can help. 
Time will help most of these go away.

i am suffering from chicken pox now. i am worried about the marks. is there any derma that can help me to find better medicine or lotion?

Don't scratch!: The most important thing to do is avoid scratching as that can cause more scarring. Keep your skin clean- take baths or showers regularly. You can try caladryl clear for itching, or take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) by mouth. Infected sores are most likely to cause scars, so use an antibiotic ointment if a sore looks redder or has yellow drainage.

hi we have a 4 year old with chicken pox and the calamine lotion is said to have expired in august 2015, will this be ok?

Maybe: The date of use is designed to assure potency, so it may not be up to strength.However, I never recommend it anyway.I find it too drying and stinky.Vaseline makes an intensive care lotion that works okay, but I prefer just to keep the skin clean and let the kid soak in tepid water periodically to remove the sweat that makes them itch.

Chicken pox: Yes. It may not necessarily help, but it certainly will not hurt.

my 12yr old son has chicken pox. on applying calomine lotion, he has fainted twice?  is this an allergic reaction or should i be worried?

Chickenpox: Fainting would be an unusual reaction as far as an allergy. If the calamine being applied is very painful that can happen. I'd recommend a call or visit to your doctor to get more details. Can also be related to being sicker with the chicken pox.

my 4 year old has chicken pox since last thursday.  been applying calamine lotion but it doesn't seem to be working.  should i take him to a gp. he hasn't missed any immunization medications.

Maybe: I find calamine excessively drying &amp; stinky &amp; never use it. It takes 5-7 days for most CP lesions to dry regardless of what you use. The primary goal is to keep the sites clean &amp; observe for possible invasion/infection by simple skin germs. As long as the sites are free from localized infection I would manage this at home. A visit just exposes more kids/adults to active disease.

Safe =probably: But I don't like calamine lotion. I find it excessively drying and it stinks so bad I can still remember the smell. There are products like IVY DRY and Gold Bond Intensive care that do well. I would limit the mupiricin to single lesions you think are festering.

my son is 5 and has really bad chicken pox, all over body in mouth and throat and round eyes. have been giving paracetamol, antihistamine and using calamine lotion and virasooth cream. can he get any other medications to help? like anti-virals?

Accepted Answer

: A drug called acyclovir can sometimes reduce the intensity of varicella outbreaks/symptoms. For most cases this is not recommended but if the pattern is as cited it may be an option.

By catching it: Chickenpox is caused by having  a first time infection with a particular virus, the chickenpox or varicella-zoster virus.  It is caught by touch and breath.
