Lack of fluids.: make sure you take in plenty of water through the day. Make sure that you have enough potassium in your system, bananas are a great source. Stretch your calves well nightly.

Try : Magnesium supplements. Staying hydrated is important as well. If you are on any diuretics discuss potassium supplementation with your doc.

: Muscle cramps are quite common in otherwise healthy people. Excessive exercise in an unconditioned individual or electrolyte imbalance from any cause can also cause cramps but the role of calcium is not that well described unless the level is extremely low which is uncommon but it happens  if the parathyroid glands are accidentally removed during thyroid surgery.

Calf pain : Calf pain can be from the muscle or from problems with the nerve that connects and controls it. The nerve controlling the calf muscle comes from the back and calf pain is common from back problems even without back pain.  It is possible that it can be a circulation problem. I wonder if the artery circulation was checked.  You need to evaluated by a doctor to understand this better.
