Vitamins, veggies: You can always take a vitamin with a high dose of calcium and vitamin d. More than likely though a vegan diet may be a little low in some other nutrients. I suggest seeing a nutritionist for planning purposes. Many vegetables, like broccoli, have high levels of calcium. Others have iron or allow higher absorption of iron (tomatoes). A nutritionist can give you a good healthy plan.

Here's some sources: Some sources: calcium-fortified soy &amp; tofu, dark green veggies like collards, kale, spinach &amp; turnip greens, okra, cowpeas &amp; beans for starters. Write down what you eat for a week, figure out the calcium, divide by 7 and see if you are getting the recommended amount (1000mg/day for 19-50yo). Get your vitamin D: 20-25 min sunlight exposure, Dole's portobello mushrooms. Hope that helps.

Calcium in: vegetables is more bio-available than calcium in dairy.  Your body absorbs it better.  Dairy is not well tolerated by many people but I'd rather trust a cow than a chemist (packaged foods).
