Test: Test results need to be interpreted in context of medical history and physical.  For example rheumatoid arthritis is mostly clinical diagnosis in early stages. If RA test is positive it doesn't mean patient has rheum. Arthritis as there are false positives. The dr. Should explain all this to you. A test is only useful to confirm what a good clinical dr. Suspects. False positives can scare he-- ou.

What&#x27;s positive?: How high is it? Ca125 is not a test used to diagnose ovarian cancer but to follow its response to therapy. Many things, malignant or not, can make it go up. You are young for ovarian cancer but i would advise you follow up with your doctor and have a good chat about the implications of the test results. Ciao!

Also, a uk study showed that treating based on ca125 level did not improve outcomes. "125" comes from the 125th attempt to develop a marker.  It was introduced by bast et al. In 1983.

My answer is different however, if you have a history of a disease such as ovarian cancer and that it should be checked. I also might order it if you have a strong family history of ovarian cancer for example. If not you should not be concerned.

Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that,  CA 125 is a screening test for ovarian cancer, albeit not a good one.
