Not sure: A discectomy is just that, removal of the entire disc.  So residual disc herniation should not occur, unless a complete discectomy was not performed for some reason.

Stiffness: Stiffness adjacent segment degeneration the disc replacment was the better method rember these procedures are sucessful in treating arm pain not neck ache.

last year i underwent a an anterior discectomy with a disc replacement at c5-c6. mri shows decompression is ok, yet  i still have severe pain!?

Scar tissue: The space around the spinal cord is very delicate. Any bleeding in this area as occurs with surgery leads to formation of scar tissue which can lead to chronic pain, sometimes very intense. Talk to your surgeon or pain doctor about spinal cord stimulation or other therapies.

Depends see below: If arm pain is new since surgery you need images to discover scource if pain is persistant from prior to surgery and completely unchanged with surgery then re image and seek scource if just milder version of preop pain then final results are at about 6 months to a year tesults vary

Ask your surgeon: As soon as your neck surgeon say it is ok you can have your breast lift.  That is the safest way to go.

i had an anterior cervical  discectomy and fusion of c5-c6 about 7 weeks ago. the last 2 mornings my hands and feet are swollen. what can cause this?

Anterior cervical: The operation should not cause swelling of your hands or feet.  Blood pressure medication can often cause this.  A high salt intake may also do it.  It is not associated with your acdf but it doesn't hurt to call your surgeon's office.  You should see your family doctor.

Disc or vertebra: Corpectomy refers to the removal of the vertebra while discectomy refers to removal of the disc which is located between the vertebra. What structure is removed is determined by what is needed to adequately relieve nerve root/spinal cord compression or correct structural deformity.

Yeah: Yeah at times you will note on a radiology report that a bone spur (osteophyte), or herniated disc is causing nerve impingement. That is the medical way of stating it is pinching the nerve in question.

Accepted Answer

Anatomy not a cause: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.
