Not likely: Lots of testing has been done on these devices
they are designed to withstand high forces, it they are placed properly the risk is low.

Yes, nerve pinching: A posterior osteophyte is a bony growth that is behind the vertebral disc, adjacent to the spinal nerve exit opening (foramen) and the facet joint.  The posterior osteophyte can cause narrowing of the foramen, pinching the nerve.  An anterior osteophyte is a bony grown in front of the disc where no nerve roots or joints are present; relatively benign.  Atypical for a 20 something unless injured.

Need more info: What you wrote, there is nothing that is of a concern.  the findings you describe from a MRI or CT? are very commonly seen with no symptoms.

Without more information, I cannot make any assessment.  I can tell you that the findings you describe are unlike to be the cause of any symptoms.

Not directly: C5 nerve causes referred pain to the arm, C6 nerve causes referred pain to the thumb.

People with pinched nerves in the cervical spine will often also complain of neck pain and some headaches.

had cervical fusion(c4 & c5) 16 years ago. current x-ray shows one screw has backed out almost completely and tilting down. no symptoms yet. danger?

Probably not, if its: not causing any symptoms. 
Certainly talk it over with a spine Surgeon who will be able to Foresee if there are going to be any problems in the foreseeable future. He might decide to take it out, as the Hardware (plate/screws ) are now not doing much. They might need to be removed.
Best advise: Talk it over with spine surgeon who can examine you as well.

An : An ssep test measures how long it takes for signals to get from the ankles and wrists to the areas in the brain that control feeling. The test that is more specific for diagnosing neuropathy is the EMG test. Guillain-barre syndrome is usually a self limited neuropathy that comes on fairly rapidly and often resolves by itself. One of the first changes in the nerve test is slowing of the f wave which is a wave measured by stimulating a nerve and looking at a signal that occurs when the signal reaches the spinal cord and bounces back a response. 
A narrowing below c4/c5 can compress your spinal cord and interrupt some pathways that control feeling but there are other symptoms such as urinary problems that appear and the physical examination is very different.Gbs is treatable medically. I think you should get a second opinion.

is an emg test necessary if the mri shows c4, c5 and c6 nerves pinched. have c4, c5 and c6 ruptured disc in neck with c4 c5 and c6 pinched nerves on right side and c6 nerve pinched on left side.  have had bone scan, and ct and now doctor is wanting emg.

Not : Not all disk herniations cause pain.  Emg is helpful to determine which disks and nerves are symptomatic.   This information may help determine the disks operated on.  Therefore, EMG is often necessary because it may give important information.  Good luck!

Arthritis : No, osteophytes are evidence of arthritis change. Surgery could be required I f you had clinical evidence that it was necessary. Good Luck

No: Protruding discs do not cause this. Blocked arteries up your neck or medications or brain problems including tumors can do this - best see your family md who may send you to a neurologist.
