i've been taking adderall for 10 years (30 mg 2xday). what are the long-term effects of central nervous system stimulants?#nqlu i'm 57 & in addition to adderall, take zoloft (50 mg), armour thyroid (90 mg), bystolic (10 mg), and tamoxifen (20 mg).

This : This is an important question that, unfortunately, still has no unambiguous answer. I have posted a link to a summary of a review article by p. Hazell that has been recently published in current opinion of psychiatry. As the author pointed out, two studies and one published report attempted to answer this question. One was favorable, one found no benefit and one found harm from long term stimulant use.  The author of this paper concludes that more studies are needed in order to answer this question.

bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg can you cut in half?

It isn't scored.: I can't find anything on any sites about ability to cut the pill. However it does come in a 5mg strength. Sometimes when pills are not scored - they aren't meant to be broken. Hopefully, another physician on healthtap can provide you a more definitive answer than mine. Take care.

Yes: Absolutely and it will go twice as far provided that 5mg qd is the right dose for you.  The other question is whether you are reducing it on your own or this directed by your physician?  Please don't reduce on your own unless you've discussed with your md.

on bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg for blood press. works great for about 12 hours then b/p shoots up. is their an extended release? can i take it twice?

Check with doctor: Don't change your medication unless your provider reviews and approves. There are medication "cousins" of bystolic (nebivolol) that are extended release.  At age 18, why you have high blood pressure should be looked at closely and what happens at the end of the 12 hours to have it jump.  What is your lifestyle? ..Weight, nutrition, salt intake and more...

i'm on bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg. and have been on beta blockers the last three years. i missed my dose today. if i don't have it at all today will anything negative occur?

Half-life: Bystolic (nebivolol) has a half-life of up to 19 hours. At that time 1/2 of the amount in your body will have been eliminated. If you have been taking beta blockers for 3 years, it is a good likelihood that missing one day should not present any problems. Dont let this happen too often however.

on bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg&i noticed when i take it i feel very weird & don't feel like myself. blood pressure is always normal though. what do i do?

Not right for you?: Bystolic (nebivolol) may not be the right blood pressure medication for you.  Any side effect is theoretically possible for any medication given the variability of human physiology.

Beta blockers, of which bystolic (nebivolol) is an example, sometimes have "odd" side effects in some patients.  Sometimes the effects resolve by themselves with continued use, but sometimes they don't.  Talk to your doctor for options.

just got off propranolol 60 mg er & got on bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg. now doc wants me back on propranolol. can i just stop bystolic (nebivolol) & go right back on propranol?

See your doctor soon: Sounds like you may be on too high a dose of medication or something else is going on. Get in to see your doctor as soon as you can. Bring your blood pressure cuff readings and the cuff itself to check against the reading in the doctor's office.  If you're having chest pain or pressure or if you're having difficulty breathing, get to the emergency room.

i'm on bystolic (nebivolol). 10 mg for high blood press. i'm getting a ct scan today. can i take my medicine right before scan?

Yes!  Take Bystolic (nebivolol).: Take all routine medications before a ct scan.  There is only one exception.  If you are having a contrast ct and you are taking metformin, you need to stop the medication before the exam.  Do not restart until your renal function is shown to be normal by blood test creatinine.

Yes: If you are not having symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness.
