The vessel and blood will not come in contact with a contact lens, but it would be best to give your eye a few days red.  Wearing a contact lens may slow the healing process.  You may want to be evaluated by an eye doc to make sure there is nothing else wrong withyour eye.

Possible vasovagal…: event where there  is a sudden drop in your blood pressure and you can feel faint, lightheaded, and sweaty. This is a common phenomenon that can occur when the eyes are touched or manipulated. I think that the broken blood vessel is unrelated and will likely resolve just as a bruise in the skin will resolve. All the best!

Odd question: How do you know you have a "broken blood vessel in the eye?" Did your ophthalmologist tell you this? Some of the potential complications of contact lens wear include corneal epithelial problems and infectious keratitis. There are no blood vessels inside the cornea. It is a layer of keratin which must be clear to allow unimpeded passage of light through the lens to reach the retina.

Ok if not infected: A red eye should not stop you from wearing contacts, but if there is infection in that eye, thus could be painful and harmful. It was not clear whether foreign matter had gotten into the eye grounds or not, hence my concern for possible infection. Don't worry: There are a variety of patterns of the superficial blood vessels over the whites of the eyes.  Some are thin, some thick, some straight and some wavy.  You have probably observed a normal pattern for you and certainly if there was a problem the eye exam you had 6 months ago would have detected a problem.
