Good with treatment: Believe it or not, we have data from World War 2 concentration camps where there were plenty of doctor prisoners but no treatment available.  They found that the mortality rate of untreated appendicitis was only ~5%.  With treatment, mortality will be lower, although the course may be pronged prior to getting well.

Delay in diagnosis: Appendicitis is medical emergency that requires prompt surgery to remove the appendix. Left untreated, an inflamed appendix will eventually burst, or perforate, spilling infectious materials into the abdominal cavity. This can lead to peritonitis,  serious inflammation of the abdominal cavity's lining (the peritoneum) that can be fatal unless it is treated quickly with strong antibiotics.

Often reduces pain: A lot of times pain from the appendix actually becomes less immediately after perforation. Then symptoms increase if progresses to peritonitis.

Rare, but real: Ruptured appendix leads to death in about 3/1000 appendicitis patients. Usually the very elderly or extremely young. Very similar.: ruptured appendix starts off as appendicitis. Perforation also known as a rupture occurs when it's allowed to progress to end-state and hasn't been  treated prior to that time.  patients with perforation may present with higher grade fevers and signs of sepsis, but this is not necessarily the case for every patient.  It is hard to differentiate the two based on symptoms and physical examination

Yes: That's how it happens sometimes. There is an abscess in the appendix, and it grows bigger, swelling and causing pain. Then the abscess leaks out of the appendix and the pressure inside decreases (called a burst appendix), causing less pain. The infection now is in the general abdominal area and will grow, thus needing treatment to avoid death in some hours or days.

very unlikely: Very unlikely to have a ruptured appendix. Usually the pain associated with appendicitis would wake you up long before its rupture. It is more likely you slept funny or did something strenuous the day before that is now showing up. Also, you should have other signs like nausea, vomiting, fevers and chills if you have appendicitis. There are really unusual cases, and if signs are there, see an md.
