There : There are studies that show that your friend is right.  Charred meat has chemicals that are known to cause cancer.  This is usually meat that has been cooked at a high heat over a barbecue.  The best things to do are to cook meat over a lower heat if you are grilling, do not put meat right on the flames, and do not eat charred portions of beef.

Not ideal: As basically all smoke has some carcinogens(cancer causing chemicals), granted usually in very small/trace quantities.  In small amounts/short exposures, this isn't likely to create any problems.  So I wouldn't worry too much, unless this is going to be a very frequent event.

Constipation causes: Most common cause are dietary but you could have underlying physiologic abnormalities too. You should see a good doc who will get a good dietary history from you and must keep a detailed dietary history fort the next week or two. Then you will have to do a bowel prep as if you were going to get a colonoscopy. See a good gastroenterologist. Good luck!
