Have you been near anyone with a cold within a few days prior to the onset of your nasal symptoms?

Facial pain: Although most likely this is not serious, i suggest you see your doctor for adequate diagnosis. Rarely, in young woman, the immune system can turn against our own myelin of the central nervous system. This may manifest as an intense facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia in demyelinating disorder). Once again, is rare, but worth discussing with your physician. He may decide MRI testing is necessary.

Burning sensation: in the nose should pass. You can flush with sterile water with head tilted forward. Wear nose plugs to prevent chlorine from getting in there next time. If the problem persists past 12 hours see a doctor.

URI VS. allergies: it sound like you have  either a viral illness causing symptoms of upper respiratory illness OR a sever allergic reaction to the pollen .
Treatment is Symptomatic . Irrigate your nostrils with Nasal Saline several times a day . Use nasal steroids to decrease inflammation of nasal lining . Use OTC day &amp; night formula . See PCP in 24-48 hrs if not improved .

Maybe: First, continue with your oral decongestants (loratidine, claritin, or benadryl), and also try Afrin nasal spray.  If that doesn&#x27;t help, you may need to see a physician.  A short course of oral corticosteroids may help (prednisone, Medrol Dospak, etc).

CN V distribution: The nose is innervated by cranial nerve 5 and travels to the pons (part of the brainstem).  It is broken down into 3 branches and the second branch (v2) innervates the nose.  Causes of dysfunction of cn v are numerous and a partial list includes structural causes (chiari malformation, head trauma) and metabolic causes (b12 deficiency, diabetes) plus others.  Please see your doctor for an evaluatio.
