Nerve impingement: can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging disc. It can cause muscle spasm and back pain and burning pain. This condition must be professionally managed. See an interventional pain management specialist for definitive diagnosis and management.

i'm having a terrible shooting pain just under/behind my left shoulder blade and a constant burning pain accompanies this down the left side of my rib?

Just a thought: but this pain which sound like "nerve pain" may originate from  a pinched nerve in your LOWER NECK! (C6-C7) level or upper back C 7-T1
Ask your Primary Health Care Provider if this is possible and an in person visit may be helpful!

Anti-inflammatory: Neck pain usually comes from a degenerative joint or disc in the neck.  Sometimes it's from a muscle strain or sprain. It is common for neck pain to refer to the head as well as shoulder blade.  Early treatment options include a short course of nsaids (advil, aleve), gentle massage, moist heat, and focusing on posture.  If pain lasts greater than 2 weeks see your physician.

Pinched nerve.: It could be a pinched nerve originating in your cervical spine. See an orthopedic cervical spine specialist for evaluation.

Potential nerve: This could be a problem of the nerves that subserve that area.  Please see your physician who can obtain a thorough history and perform a physical exam to determine if you need additional test like imaging and/or electrodiagnostics.

Varies: There are multiple potential causes, I would not hesitate to be seen for an accurate diagnosis.  Considerations can include a thoracic disc herniation with irritation of a thoracic nerve in the spine, upper gi problems can sometimes cause pain in a recumbent position, subscapular bursitis can cause pain in a similar region.  A detailed exam can go a long way in making the diagnosis.

More info needed: Although it may sound like a sprain, answers to questions such as; Was there any injury to that part of body? Are there any bruises to the area, redness or swelling? Does it hurt more when you press on it? and Does she have fever or any other symptom?, may provide more clues.

Shoulderblade prob: Shoulder pain can be from many different problems.  The main one in back of is shoulder blade irritation or inflammation
you could try Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen over the counter for a few days.

Hard to say: My best guess without examining you is that you have some inflammation in your shoulder.  This commonly causes "radicular" symptoms down your arm...  Neck also has to be examined.. Good news is that with proper treatment your likely to improve soon.  I hope you can find even a primary care provider...No need for a specialist at this point.

i have had a sharp, burning sensation on the right side of my back, midway down, just below the shoulder blade, about 6-8" right of center spine; it's been 5-6 weeks with no improvement.  skin condition is appears fine & no deformity.  thoughts?
