i have a slight burning sensation on the left side of my head, my shoulders and back. i sometimes feel it in my left arm. what, possibly, could it be?

R/O DISC DISEASE: Your description of the pain sounds neuropathic in nature . You need a full exam and focused Neuro exam. Full lab tests including TFTS /Vit b12/Vit d/ Lyme disease. If symptoms persist an you have increased knee reflexes, MRI of brain would be needed to evaluate for MS. If reflexes are weak or foot drop is present. Mri of cervical spine is needed to rule out herniated disc or mass effect.

May not be migraine: Migraines can sometimes cause neurologic symptoms in other parts of the body that can mimic a mini-stroke (TIA). But it's important to rule out more dangerous causes like aneurysm or tumor. CT or MRI of the brain, and possibly a CTA or MRA to look for aneurysms, is probably needed. See a doctor as soon as possible.

dad is 64 yrs old,he has frequent pain which starts from left arm till neck then grows till head and forehead with eyes burning irritation.mri is clean,visited many neuro surgeons, but still pain remains.pls advice which specialised doc to consult?

Several options: Try a neuro-ophthalmologist  and also a neurologist.  Another option would be a rheumatologist.

Eval: Can’t diagnose with available information. Examination, history &amp; possibly other testing would be needed to make an accurate diagnosis. Treatment would be dictated by diagnosis.

Get neurology eval: The fact that you get the same sensation of left sided burning when you flex the leg OR raise the left arm is very difficult to explain off the top of my head from a purely anatomical view. You need to be seen and examined by a neurologist to get a better handle as to what is going on. It may also be a non-organic problem but that would come later after everything else checked out.

irritated nerve: Diseased or pinched nerve in left arm. See a neurologist to find the cause.

Unlikely: Alcohol would be a less likely cause. Cervical neck root irritation or peripheral nerve involvement would be more likely. Have the problem evaluated.

: It is most likely coming from a nerve. It all depends on the location ie entire arm could be pinched nerve in neck or if in wrist could be the median nerve (the one that goes under carpal tunnel) . It would be unusual to have one sided with vitamin deficiencies or systemic diseases. If you injured area can cause that too. Hope this helps.

i'm experiencing a burning sensation up and down my left arm. almost like a tearing feeling. like my arm is being stretched to far. what is this?

: That could be an early symptom of shingles and if it is the case, vesicular rashes will appear in that area in the next 24-48 hours. If this symptom has occurred off and on in the past, cervical radiculopathy could be the cause. At times, we do not have an answer and symptom often is transient and I hope that is your case.
