i'm a few weeks pregnant and developed a slight sunburn. it now looks like its spreading into little dots all over....normal? almost looks like hives

Hives: You may have heat urticaria, you can take otc Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec to see if they help, they are safe during pregnancy.

8 yr old severe sunburn type hives on face and neck in spring. lasts 4-6 wks. extreme itch. anti-hist and top. steroids not help. is it auto immune?

Unlikely: I suspect that what the child had was something like poison ivy and not truly hives.  It usually takes a much more potent cortisone cream to control the rash and at times even oral steroid may be needed. If this has gone away, don't lose sleep over it.  If it comes back, see your doctor.

is it possible to get petechehie on legs from sunburn?

Possibly: If the burn is severe enough, I imagine there could be damage to blood vessels leaving petechial rash. I have never personally seen this. I'd keep a close eye on this, and if seeing petechial in areas without sunburn, then rethink cause and consider lab work or a trip to the hematologist.

Leg pain: It could be a nerve issue or a prodrome to shingles  see your local md.

Hives: An allergic reaction is usually red bumpy, itchy, and splotchy.  Sun burm is warm uncomfortable flat pink red and peeling.  Use sun block when getting dressed each day and reapply.

Sunburn: If there is significant swelling then would recommend dermatologic / medical  evaluation.  Significant swelling is not normal and would signal damage to tissues.

Swelling after burns: Burns cause inflammation which in turn increase blood flow to the area.  More blood causes swelling.  Try an anti inflammatory cream and/ or aleve (naproxen) to address the inflammation.  Cool soaks can help.  The burn injury will take a couple of weeks to heal.

Sun allergy?: That sounds like a reaction to the sun.  Does it itch?

Mild swelling: This is probably some mild swelling. Elevate your legs and should be gone.

Not much...: Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen or naproxen can help control pain. Potent steroid creams (by prescription) sometimes are tried, but usually are not helpful. If very severe, e,g. if you develop bullae (giant blisters), for sure see a doctor or urgent care clinic ASAP. The good news is that pain should improve very soon.
