: Pain is possible with radiculopathy for C5-6 due to nerve compression but first MCP joint swelling is not consistent with radiculopathy. Local joint problem is more likely.

need advice on mri results.  abnormal heterogeneious t2 signal with some swelling within the spinal cord at c5-c6 level, husband had fusion 1.5 years ago on on c4-c6 is this getting worse?

Communicate: This is a situation in which the MRI findings must be correlated with both the clinical presentation and the prior appearance of the images.  This should be discussed at length with the physician who ordered the test, and information on the internet without actually seeing the images and your husband are unlikely to be helpful.  Hope he does well.

recent mri , please explain readings. husband had fusion 2012 c4-c5. new mri focal swelling with heterogeneous abnormal signal in the spinal cord atc5-c6 suggesting neoplasm has improved .

Funny MRI: Probably means something abnormal was seen at that level early and looks better. Not every neoplasm appearance is a tumor and not every tumor is a cancer so to really tell you need the ortho or neurosurgeon to compare results carefully with the radiologists help and answer your question better.

Swelling may persist: Swelling within the cord is unusual. Not sure what you mean by that. Changes can occur in the cord from injury, either trauma, disc herniation or stenosis that some might call swelling. This is referred to as myelomalacia. This doesn't always change appearance after surgery. Presumably, you are not doing well from your surgery or you wouldn't have had another mri. Get a 2nd opinion.

By name alone: The diagnosis of disseminated intravascular coagualtions alone we know there are small clots clogging the small arteries of many organs, cause obstruction of the flow of blood and death of some parts of tissues (infarctions).

Absolutely, when : Diagnosed early we can decrease the risk of uncontrollable bleeding. Unfortunately it is still a devastating condition in many cases.

Urethritis: In general having penile discharge is thought to be symptoms of either gonorrhea or chlamydia or both.  The other possibility is that it could be a sign of too much prostate fluid.  The question there is does it hurt to ejaculate?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: A good amount of bleeding is normal after delivery. Dic is a condition where blood clotting factors are used up (usually due to massive hemorrhage) resulting in an inability for blood to clot where it needs to.  Most bleeding at the time of delivery stops because uterine muscle contracts over big blood vessels in the uterus, so dic usually is not an issue.

Emergently: Dic (disseminated intravascular coagulation) is an emergency in any situation.  The patient with dic has, for one of several reasons, consumed elements in her blood which are needed to cause blood to clot.  Without the ability to clot, she will bleed continuously until something is done to replace the "clotting factors" or otherwise arrest the bleeding, e.g., hysterectomy.

Get a ride from somebody, or take public transportation, if the symptoms make it less safe to drive to the doctor's office. The doctor may refer to specialists if needed, for further evaluation.
