Dermatologist: Response to bug bites is genetic. Some people heal without a mark. Others form keloids or pigmented hard bumps. A dermatologist can help minimize these. Complete elimination is tough to do.

Try Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or: cover with Neosporin and a bandaid. Distract yourself from scratching. Once they are scratched vitamin E or Me derm may help. Avoid touching as scratching makes it worse. All the best.

Lighter with time : There is not much to offer for scars. The usual aloe Vera creams can be tried. Just with time the scars will get lighter. Best is to avoid more bug bites by taking all precautions.

Prurigo Nodularis: The scar was formed from repeated scratching. Sometimes injecting a potent cortisone preparation (kenalog (triamcinolone) being most commonly used) may reduce the size. If this didn't work, then you may consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to get it removed.  The condition is known as prurigo nodularis.

1. Remove the source of the problem - the bed bugs by exterminating.
2. Steroid creams on the rash work well.  Prescription creams are stronger and more effective than over the counter creams.

Leave them alone: Children's skin heals quickly. Give it time. Even a scar from a cut may fade away over a year or two. Keep it clean, avoid scratching and picking, and use a good sunscreen (depending on the age of your baby). If you have concerns, check with your baby's doctor.

P.I.H. : Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a frequently encountered problem particularly in darker pigmented individuals including african americans or asians. Pih occurs as a result of inflammation to skin. Acne is common inflammatory diseases that results in pih, particularly if one picks at their lesions.  Time usually helps fade the PIH. There are lasers that can also help. Hope this helps.
