i was in vietnam less than a week ago and the day before i left i got a bug bite, it now looks like ringworm. it itches and hurts. it started as a bit but then developed blister like ring around the center. ?

Persistent ringworm: Being body clean is a first requisite. Avoid seeing the person who infected you until his/her ringworm is completely gone. Do not wear another person's clothing. Wash your clothes and bed linens in hot water. If using otc medications for a scalp ringworm, consult your doctor for a prescription for an oral antifungal medication.

Cause?: How it is treated depends on exactly what it is. A careful history should give the answer:  what part of body, size of lesion, associated symptoms, appearance on physical exam, itchy or not.  So the details are important.  If a insect bite, just keep clean and dry. If ringworm, requires an antifungal cream. If skin infection (cellulitis), involves antibiotic.  Your GP should be able to decide.

If it looks like that, you can either seek medical care or pick up some athletes foot cream or womens vaginal yeast tx cream (act ingred ends in -azole) and apply to the lesion 3 times a day.

Tinea corporis: Tinea corporis (ringworm) is a fungal infection of the skin generally characterized (intially) by a red raised round patch, followed by central clearing and an advancing border.  Although it is contagious, it is unusual for multiple lesions to develop in short order in an otherwise immunocompetent person.  Multiple welts that occur at the same time are usually due to allergy or insect bites.
