Do you notice a relationship to any foods, medications,temperature exposure,physical exercise? Antihistamines or atarax (hydroxyzine) help treat or prevent this reaction. An allergist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you.

This sounds like it: might be an infection, as opposed to a bug bite. Of course if you're somewhere where there are insects out at this time of year, it's possible. I would recommend that you have her examined by her doctor to be sure. Meanwhile, have her sit in a warm tub or apply warm compresses to the area. If it's itchy, she can have Benadryl (diphenhydramine) orally. Don't try to squeeze it to open it up; you may make it worse.

Allergic response: This sounds like a localised allergic response to the bug bite. It is unusual for infection to develop this early. This could likely be small blisters rather than actual abscesses. In any case if its causing you pain, you need to get this examined by a doctor. If there is infection, you may need antibiotics otherwise try some antihistamines which may reduce the reaction around the bite.
