Fever: If the fever doesn't break after three days and he does not break out in a rash, indicating Roseola, see a doctor.

That sounds like a: Possible infection. If one of your legs has become hot, red & swollen you need to have this evaluated.  You could have cellulitis.

Skin infection: The bump you describe is likely an abscess, an infection caused once the skin barrier was compromised from the insect bite.  It should be evaluated by a physician to determine the appropriate course of treatment. A healthtap prime or concierge consult may also suffice.

Check hydration: Make sure your little one stays hydrated with Pedialyte or other pediatric rehydrant.  Vomiting + fever can mean trouble if they persists.  If wet diapers significantly decrease (1-2in, tender or draining.  This would be a sign that the bite needs further care.

3yr old has bug bite on cheek for 4 weeks. it has turned dark purpley red. no pain, itching, fever, heat, etc.  it just wont go away. sometimes see patch of dry/scaly skin on it. should i be concerned?

Yes: Four weeks is too long for a "bug bite" to heal.  Please see your pediatrician for an in person evaluation.

5 yr old has a raised lymph node on upper shoulder  just under the back of his neck. has a bug bite about 1 inch under node .had a cold last week. could bite = pea size node.no fever just itchy bite?

Yes: The lymph node enlargement and bug bite are most likely related. The lymph node will likely regress soon as the inflammation subsides. I would not worry too much unless other symptoms occur or the regression is delayed.

Rashes: Rashes are difficult to diagnose when a patient is not in front of me but I can say that scabies causes intense itch in most patients.  I'm not sure an insect bite on cheek is associated with the rash, perhaps a coincidence.   If there are changes in detergents,  cleansers, or introduction of a new food,  then that has to be taken into consideration.   Any travel (sand fleas, bed bugs)?

Possible: It may have started as a bite that has become secondarily infected. Have him/her checked. The fever may be related to the bite or another cause.

Insect bite : He needs to be evaluated in person More information is needed . After reading this, alone  I am concerned he has an infection that needs antibiotics
