what to to about lower arms that bruise really easily? my lower arms bruise really easily. i can just bump into something and an awlful bruise appears and takes a long time to go away. what causes this?

Typically : Typically that is caused by "actinic purpura" which occurs after age and sun damage thin the skin and cause it to bruise more easily.  There is not easy fix, but i would recommend sunscreens, protective clothing, and do your best to avoid trauma to those areas.  I would recommend you see a dermatologist who can further evaluate you to confirm the diagnosis and be sure that is the correct diagnosis.  I hope that helps. i had a hickey that turned to a bruise that has been there for a month and won't go away, when should i be concerned? will it take longer to go away?

Bruise: A bruise should not last that long. It can be either hyper-pigmentation changes or you should check with your local physician to make sure that you don't have bleeding disorder.

age:40, menorhea, when i hit something i get a bruise, it takes long time(3-4wks) to go away? i think i get a bruise even i don't hit that hard.any tests?

Blood thinners: If you are on certain medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other nsaids, these may cause you to bruise more easily. There are blood tests that you can take which help diagnose bleeding problems (ie: pt, ptt). Vitamin k deficiency also causes easy bruising which can be tested for.

Bruising: the breast is vascular, fibrous and fatty tissue in makep so bruising is caused by the bloods availabilty to pool in that tissue environment. It doesnt clear as quickly as muscle does

i get green spots on my skin from time to time. i bruise easily. i take iron then spots go away. what should i say to my doctor or google in meantime?

"I bruise easily": And that would be the explanation. If you have a condition that predisposes you to bleeding under the skin, then you would need to watch your blood counts (hemoglobin/hematocrit) always. Iron is a supplement to increase the number of red blood cells the bone marrow makes to replace dead blood cells.

i have recently noticed that it takes 3 months or more for my bruising to go away and wanted to know if i should be concerned about that?

YES: It does depend on whet areas are bruised and size and kind of tissue involved. At your age 3 months is uncommonly long. See your md and you may be referred to a vascular md for evaluation. Could be bloodwork turns up something, capillary fragility, diabetes, any number of syndromes. See the md soon. The external bruising is what you see-- you may have internal as well.

See a doctor: I recommend seeing a doctor so that they can make a proper diagnosis and give you something to get rid of the condition or relieve symptoms.

Bruises heal: Bruises typically heal and disappear over time unless you keep re-injuring the same area over and over again.  Mother nature did a good job with this.

Bruise: The amount of time it takes to heal is highly variable from person to person.For the first 24 hours, i would ice the effected area to minimize the spread of the bruise. After 48 hours, heat may be applied to allow the blood to disperse about the body.

how can you protect / support a bruised rib when you are unable to take time off to let it heal?

Brace intermittently: A bruised rib could be supported with a brace or other tightfitting garment, but it will be very  important to remove the brace about every hour and take several very deep breaths to avoid an increased risk of pneumonia related to more shallow breathing while the brace is in place.  Ice packs periodically and Acetaminophen may also be helpful.  Ideally rest would be best.
