Difficult to say: It is difficult to say what this could be.  It could be urticara.  You might want to have this evaluated if it reoccurs.

Possible dermatitis: This possible dermatitis could be inching enough to make you scratch it hard enough to produce bruises. On the other hand, there are numerous causes of bruises and the skin and you need to be evaluated that if you're bruising is excessive.  I'm sorry i can't solve your problem here. You need to see a dermatologist.

Your personal physician may refer you to a dermatologist.

See your doctor: Bruises go thru several stages as it heals soem will take longer than otehrs just depending on the force of the injury. Most of the time its not itchy though, Do you have eczema or other skin lesions in different areas?  You should see you doctor

Bone contusion: By the way you describe the injury, you could have sustained a bone contusion, which characteristically can take awhile to get better.  Don't hesitate to be seen and examined.  An MRI can potentially help to confirm the diagnosis.  There are other possibilities as well.

Mosquito bite: Did you actually see the mosquito bite ?Have you travelled to South Florida or Sourh America? (Zika)  It may not be a mosquito bite but another bug(spider). Would follow up today with urgent care as you may need antibiotics and further evaluation , regular mosquito bites resolve within 1-2 weeks. . ,

Hive?: Not sure, but hives have characteristics similar to this (can have appearance of large mosquito bite, itch, come and go). Can try an otc antihistamine to see if it helps.  Otherwise, may be helpful to photograph the lesion in case it "goes" before seeing a physician
