The first thing I would do is make sure the test was reliable but 89 is incredibly low. If you physically feel fine and it was truly 89, then you may have an undiagnosed medical condition because it means that your body is compensating to some degree. But, at 89%, your body can't compensate for long and will wear down eventually. Make sure to keep your follow up appointments. Hope this helps

Maybe: During an asthma event people use additional muscles/effort to breathe because there is airway restriction to air entry. It might prevent deeper breaths since their is less volume available during  the event. If the lungs will not inflate as much you would not gain as much surface for oxygen to enter the blood.

Many things: Infection, poor air flow into the lungs, poor blood flow to and from the lungs, a heart problem such as a hole within the heart could all cause this. So could a lot of other things, all of which warrant thorough investigation.

It can: It can but it shouldn't.  Talk to your cardiologist.  PFO tend to be small and under low pressure so when you exercise it should not effect things as much.  Sometimes there is a pressure reversal and this is not a good sign since it can mean weakening of the heart.

Same as adults: Any disease which can cause low oxygen saturation in adults will do in elderly. Pneumonia.  Sepsis from any other infection heart failure bronchitis and  atelectasis. Needs evaluation.
