can swimming goggles change the appearance of your eyes? what happen if it feels weird around eyes? if it is a smaller size goggle? clues?

Accepted Answer

No: They should adhere to the skin around the eyes to prevent water from getting in.  There is no effect of this on the appearance of the eyes or the skin around the eyes.  Otherwise we would be looking at weird effects on olympic class swimmers who wear goggles 5-8 hours per day - day after day.

how common are eye floaters in people under 40? can physical over-exertion, rubbing eyes or swimming goggles be causes?

Accepted Answer

Not uncommon!: Floaters are opacities within the vitreous gel in the eye.  Things that accelerate the degeneration of the gel beside age include trauma (including eye rubbing).

can eye floaters be caused by general anesthesia or swimming goggles?

Accepted Answer

No: Your floaters are inside your eyes' vitreous cavity and occur as a result of aging of the eye. Normally these gradually develop, but occasionally they can increase suddenly, usually associated with light flashes & a noticeable change in the quality of your vision. If this occurs, a dilated eye examination is important to rule out other problems causing the floaters, such as a tear in the retina.

Dry eyes: Swimming probably not a cause of dry eyes. The chlorine certainly is an irritant. Any Otc lubricating drops preferable non preserved can be helpful.

Time: If you were swimming in an area that used a sterilizing agent such as chlorine then some time will need to pass for your eyes to return to normal otherwise if you were in another area such as a lake or the river then if your symptoms persist you should see an eye doctor or your healthcare provider

Unlikely: Adjust to keep off cornea, and avoid skin blistering.
Otherwise well tolerated.

: It depends on what you mean. By “damaged”. I think if the laser were to cause any problems, the first indication would likely be vision loss. If you are concerned about this, then see your eye doctor for an evaluation to determine if there are any changes associated with the laser. It is very doubtful that, with the goggles on, there is any damage but see your eye doctor to confirm. Good luck!

Injury to : Injury to infra orbital branch of trigeminal cranial nerve could cause pain.

when having laser hair removal on face and being given eye protection blackout goggles, is it ok to open eyes?

: It is likely not going to harm your eyes if you had the goggles on and you opened your eyes. But, in order to confirm this, you should see your eye doctor for an evaluation. I would think you would have vision loss if there was a problem but your eye doctor can evaluate you to be certain there was no harm. Good luck!
