More prominent: pigment in parts of the iris is relatively normal, but if you find it concerning as it appears you do then by all means have it evaluated by an ophthalmologist.  If I was uncertain about a pigment in my iris I would do exactly the same thing.

Examination : Any new appearing lesions, spots &amp; sores on the eye should be examined. You are probably seeing nevi or epheli both which are common on the iris. Rarely nevi can transform into melanoma. An examination will establish a diagnosis and a baseline. Most are monitored by periodic checkups.

Stop tanning: Skin, freckles, and spots all get darker in the presence of real or artificial sunlight. The first experiment you can do is to avoid indoor and outdoor exposure to sources of tanning and see if your brown spots simply disappear. Always wear a sun-blocking make-up or product when you're outside and a hat. Consider seeing your fp to determine whether the dermatologist needs to see your spots.

Suddenly- appearing : brown spots in sclerae should be evaluated, but are not necessarily a reason to panic, as the cause is often benign. If you feel you may need a medical evaluation, you need to see an ophthalmologist, an M.D. who specializes in diseases of the eyes.

Also, hamartomas, brushfield spots, lisch nodules, inflammatory nodules, adenomas, xanthogranulas, melanomas, iris atrophy, stretch holes are among other iris lesions or spots that can occur but much less common. If your iris spots are new, have them evaluated by an eye md.

Yes: Spots on the iris are similar to moles on the skin and if one is changing, it would be prudent to have it checked out.
