Why ask?: Why are you concerned about malabsorption?  Is there something else going on?  Pancreatic problems would not be diagnosed on floating stool alone.  Are you having symptoms? Pain?  You say no weight loss?  Why are you concerned?  Meds?

Malabsorption?: Usually excess fat in the stool will result in very foul smelling depositions and shiny (covered in oil) stool. Qualitative stool fat test is a good screening tool to detect fat malabsorption.

I don't know, but...: Stool is a compacted form of insoluble things your body can't digest, and when it's in water, the stool starts breaking apart. Whatever is in your stool that is buoyant will come up to the surface. To know for sure what it is, you would have to analyze your stool. Pay attention to what you have eaten when you notice this phenomenon!  and relax... It's nothing to worry about.

Fat malabsorption: Floating stool is more likely to be an indication of fat absorption. It is not a sign of pancreatic cancer.

No worries...: Strong urge to have a bm is most commonly associated with ibs or other food intolerance eg. Lactose intolerance.  Keep a food diary and see if there might be a pattern to your symptoms that would implicate something you are eating. Good luck!

Seems strange...: I would expect that with a formed stool, cleanup would be quick. Normally, constipation or diarrhea presents more trouble. Perhaps this is a matter of obesity or incomplete evacuation of your bowels with residual stool present. If you have been in a hurry, how about you take another minute or so to make sure there is no stool left in the anal canal when you think you're finished?

Maybe a cavity: This may be the beginning of a cavity. The dark spot could be enamel which has begun to break down and soften. You should see your dentist as soon as possible to rule out any type of decay process. It could also just be staining on your teeth. However, only a dentist can distinguish between the two. Get an appointment soon!
