No: No where I know of are RT's allowed to administer any meds other than nebulizers and inhalers.

Not usually: Today most bronchoscopies are done with topical anesthesia and under moderate sedation  (drugs that make a person very groggy but do not completely knock them out).  Frequently there is some coughing but most people tolerate this procedure well and some do not remember the procedure afterward at all - "ready to go doc" after it is over is not an uncommon outcome.

That depends: Its a tool used to diagnose (rarely to treat)  lung diseases from pneumonia in people with suppressed immunity, to lung cancer, to many obscure lung diseases. It is simply a flexible endoscope passed into the airway usually via the nose, but can go via mouth too.  It permits you to examine the large airways directly. More info here;

Yes: For most bronchoscopies we use "conscious sedation"; this means that you are comfortable for the procedure but not usually put to sleep/asleep.  The procedure should not be painful and should be comfortable.  You may have coughing during the procedure.

Look inside lungs: Bronchoscopy is primarily used to literally look inside your lungs, get culture samles, or possibly get a biopsy.

Airway visualization: Bronchoscopy is a procedure in which the inside of the airways ( trachea, bronchii) are examined visually. It gives the physician/surgeon direct visualization of the inside of the above airways, helping to diagnose pulmonary disorders. Also gives the doctor a chance to obtain diagnostic samples such as lung washes, biopsies. It is becoming more of a therapeutic instrument with various applications.

Bronch: Cxr ct and blood work
blood pressure medication as usual, do not stop
your md has to know about plavix (clopidogrel).

Few hours-few days: If only bronchoscopy report is need it takes a few hours (next day). If biopsy was taken it might take a few days until pathology report is ready.

What results!: A bacteria grew, a diferent organisms , means in cultures. Also a cytology should show typ of cells present in the lungs as cancer cellss & different products. It is like a view of what is in the lung
also special tests, stains & studies should be done to ask for different conditions. Then will depend on the results.
