Next biggest toe: A broken toe, assuming it is not a complicated fracture and not the big toe, is usually treated by taping the affected toe to the next bigger toe. Caution should be used to not tape the toes too tightly together. Best to consult with your doctor to confirm the diagnosis.

Med eval: Sometimes it is recommended to tape a fractured toe and sometimes it might be harmful.  Not all toe fractures are alike. Really can't make a recommendation but, after evaluation a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon could. Take care.

Depends: Big toe fractures generally require more restrictions  whereas simple fractures of the lesser toes can be treated with simple buddy taping to the adjacent toe. Some fractures of the big and lesser toes may require setting, surgery and/or prolonged immobilization based on the complexity of the fracture. Xray will define the fracture pattern and dictate the treatment. Get xrays and see your doc.

Maybe not much!: Depending on the toe, pehaps not much for rehab.  If it is a 5th toe you would ususally not do much.  If it is a great toe or a middle toe, maybe!  this would depend on what the therapy was for.  Is it postoperative after wires or plates or screws?  Usually a broken toe is splinted and when healed, you are done.  There may be instances where restoration of motion would be more important & need pt.

Splint: The most common treatment for a fractured toe is splint to prevent movement - usually we 'buddy tape' the toe to the one next to it as a splint.  This works since the joints do not line up from toe to toe and so the injured one won't bend.   This assumes the toe is relatively well aligned - swelling should be treated with cold packs/ice packs.

Reduced pain: Reduced pain and swelling, maintained alignment of the toe, fading bruises, and x-rays that show evidence are good ways to make sure your toe fracture is healing well.

You are going to have to give it at least 2 to 3 months to find out if the nerve has been permanently damaged. In the meantime use warm compresses on the area. These will help the nerve. Remember warm not hot as hot will cause more damage.
