Not at all!: The spinal cord does not go down that far, so all you are doing is breaking bone. It certainly can be uncomfortable as it heals, but it isn't going to kill you.

6 weeks: While it takes 6 weeks for healing of the bone injury, most people have pain for longer. This is a very sensitive area. Pain for 3-6 months is not uncommon. Using the donut pillow really helps.

Time: There is not much to do other than protect the area and let it heal over the next several weeks.  Use a donut cushion that will allow you to sit and take pressure off of the tail bone.  If the pain is poorly controlled with meds then an injection may help.  Discuss your options with your pcp.

Soon: The sooner the better. Even after a coccyx fracture, it is ok to begin a motion and strengthening program

i have had a broken tail bone for 6 years. it started hurting again like it did when it first broke. what kind of doctor do i need to see if a broken coccyx? it keeps snapping more and causing horrible pain. really hoping someone can help.

Fracture coccyx: You could see a primary care and  get x-ray or the area or MRI, and they could treat conservatively with ice NSAIDS, donut pillow,. or could go to orthopedist who would treat similarly or if severe may inject  with steroid or in the rare event could perform surgery for unremitting pain .

Not typically: Coccyx cushions generally do not cause problems with the back and are used to treat coccyx pain by taking pressure off the coccyx when seated.  If you have low back pain when using a coccyx pad make sure you have a good lumbar support in the chair you are using.

Epidural: Well, there was a manufacturer in Massachusetts that was selling an injectable for epidurals that was contaminated with fungus..this lead to fungal meningitis and death in several people.  Any infection, bacterial or otherwise is also a complication.  Bone infection the most notable.  Worsening pain at the site is also a possible side effect.

2 epidurals. 1 almost 10 yrs ago, another almost 14 yrs ago. both with complications. periodic lower back pains. now spine is tender feels swollenwhy?

Can&#x27;t get an answer: to that one online. You need to be examined by a physician, and most likely need updated imaging of the involved area of the body and spine. Your prior epidurals are so remote that it is not possible that they have any relationship to your current problem. Please go see a doctor. Especially if you have redness, swelling or any signs of infection like fever, decreased apetite of malaise go today.

No.: Standard lab tests not likely to show anything.   But the worst thing on my list would be infection which might show up as an elevated CRP or wbc.  I would see the doc who performed the rudy to have them consider your problem.
