Define specialist: If you mean seeing your obgyn or pcp, most can handle your average mastitis. If you mean a general surgeon or plastic surgeon, i'd say no. They could help, but i think they would wonder why you didn't see the other docs.

i have 2 fibroadenomas, breast specialist said no biopsy is needed.had 2 ultrasound follow-ups. should i worry not having a biopsy done?25, no history.

Excisional biopsy?: Consider an excisional biopsy for a tissue diagnosis to confirm the presence of the fibroadenomas especially if you are worried, have a family history of breast, ovarian, or colon cancer(genetic), or the growths are large. Get a second opinion.

Breasts: I highly doubt cancer given your evaluation. However, nipple discharge for two weeks is not normal. Perhaps a hormonal problem.

Monthly hormones: it seems to me that the one thing you didn't mention is when is this the most sensitive. In most young ladies, breast pain will follow the ups and downs of the menstrual cycle. Fibrocystic breasts are the most sensitive. As long as all those studies are negative, this would be the most likely cause.

swollen and itching nodules in my rt armpit for over a month/hand goes numb while sleeping. have appt. w/ breast specialist. should i call pcp also?

Call PCP for appt.: As a PCP, I feel as if I am better suited to treat this.  It is not clear to me that this is a breast issue and may be a waste of time to see the other doctor.  I would see the PCP, especially if you can get in sooner.  Good luck!

A specialist is a physician that develops expertise in a certain area through proper training and continuing education.  Anyone can call themselves a specialist, but is is best for this designation to come from referring colleagues. Continual process improvement can lead to optimal outcomes for patients.

is there somewhere where i could get a regular breast examination? i don't trust my own verdict and would rather a specialist perform the exam?
