Breast cysts: Breast cysts are benign masses in the breast that soetimes cause pain and can cause concern because they feel like a solid mass. They can be easily managed by needle aspiration but if they are not causing pain or discomfort this is not neccesary. They can be followed by ultrasound if you prefer not to aspirate them.

Absolutely...: Nipple discharge, cysts, and "fibrocystic changes" in the breast are all relatively common. Most of the time these findings are not cancer. However, to be sure, there are certain things most doctors will want to know. For example: is the nipple discharge on one side? Is it bloody? Does it occur on it's own? Has the patient had children? In some cases an ultrasound of the breast may be needed.

Unusual: Most benign pathology of breast is related to hormone activity on breast tissue.  In early years activity is on breast tissue resulting in fibroadenomas. Over 30 the effect begins on the ductal system producting partial   blockage with fluid accumulation leading to cysts. When spontaneous  opening in duct occurs the cyst disappears.  Most of the time with age fibrocytic disease is commonplace

Yes: They are more common in women aged 35-50 but can be found at any age.  Most breast cysts are benign. The might require drainage if they are painful, large, or just simply if you want to make them go away for piece of mind.

Very common...: Breast cysts are extremely common, especially in early adulthood. However, it's important to know the type of breast cyst so that we know how to best deal with it. An ultrasound is usually needed to characterize the cyst. Occasionally, a cyst will need to be drained for diagnosis or relief of pain for the patient. Most of the time however, there is nothing special to do and we leave them alone.

Solid v Fluid-Filled: A "nodule" is a generic term for a breast lump. Common causes include "lumpy-bumpy" breast tissue ("fibrocystic changes"), tumors (benign or malignant), and cysts (fluid-filled;benign).  A thorough history and physical examination supplemented by ultrasound+/-mammography+/-biopsy will help sort this out.
