Lesions : Peripheral vascular problems that can be associate with vascular anomaies at the finger tips would include splinter hemorrhages, Janesway lesions. These can be associated with endocarditis. Other conditions to consider would be lupus or vasculitis. Simple pressure problems can be a factor or antiplatelet agents.

Usually trauma.: There are many veins on the top of the hand which are relatively close to the surface of the skin and are prone to be injured.Trauma to the area (this could be a simple banging of your hand without you even being aware) could result in beaking of the vein leading to a black and blue area.  Also medications such as aspirin, blood thinners and even vitamin e. Flaxseed and  and nsaids can cause this.

Incidental trauma: Some people have thin skin, loss of fat in the hands or friable veins.  The smallest bump or tear can lead to bruising, particularly if you are on medications like aspirin.

Sounds like: some of your symptoms may be related to your fibromyalgia.  It does not look like you are taking any medication for this.  If you are having swelling/edema in your extremities that can also be a cause for the "burst veins".  Varicose veins can also become inflamed, causing your symptoms.  I would recommend you see your doctor to have these addressed.  There ARE treatments for fibromyalgia!

Usually trauma: The veins on top of the hands are very prone to injury from simply hitting them against an object.  This would be the most common reason for them to be bruised and subsequently bleed.  Other causes could be medications that you are taking such as aspirin, fish oil and even some vitamins.  You may want to follow up with a vein specialist for an evaluation.

Ice and pressure: Symptomatic treatment would be ice to the area and compression wrapping with an ace bandage.  More importantly, however, is why is this happening to you?  Is this do to an injury or to taking blood thinners or do to an underlying  blood clotting problem?  If symptomatic treatment doesn't help then you should see a hematologist for a clotting evaluation.

high blood pressure, low blood clotting, thining of the blood, central infections and many things. Even though it may just end up being varicosities see your pcp first.

Accepted Answer

Probably: Blood pumped by the heart goes to the hand in arteries and comes back in the veins, which have no pump. Veins have a thin wall and are easily distended. Gravity pulls the blood down, distending the veins. Lifting the arms pulls blood back to the heart and the veins shrink. Further tests would be needed if arm elevation did not empty the veins.
