You might try: Trazodone instead of the Zoloft, (sertraline) it will help with getting to sleep too. Benzodiazepines will help you get to sleep, but you will then need them every night and have bad effects long term. If you're depressed and not sleeping well you won't be alert.

Depression: interferes w.our ability to focus and concentrate.  It also  can produce memory problems.  A mental health professional can help.  Please don't use medication only but learn strategies for self-help.  "Feeling Good" by David Burns is a good book about cognitive behavioral therapy.  Peace and good health.
