It depends : Which bone you are talking about. A heel spur on the bottom of the food more often than not the soft tissue structure is the cause of pain and the the bone apur, however, there are different anatomical regions where the bone is the source of pain as something is rubbing on it.

They Happen!: Most any joint can develop hypertrophy (enlargement) of bone.  "spurs" is the common term for this build up of bone.  It can be the result of trauma to the joint, osteoarthritis of the joint, other arthritis conditions and general wear and tear.  Just having them does not have to mean anything.  It they become large enough and in the right position, they can be painful and need medical attention.

Some things: May be spurs, or excessive boney prominence called haglund'd deformity. May also be achilles tendonitis at attachment of heels. Make sure you have proper fitting and supportive running shoes. Stretching will help lessen tension at heel insertion. Ice after running may also help. See podiatrist to find out what the problem is and what is causing it. There are treatment options.

Walking on your: toes will definitely lead to stress fractures of the toe after a while and may worsen you condition. Discuss with your podiatrist

Ex cerise is good: The injury is healing and the bone will continue to remodel.  It is far better for you to excercise than to be sedentary.  If there is pain the use of nsaids is helpful and plenty of stretching..

Yes, but...: Adult bones are stiff and children's bones are somewhat malleable.  Therefore, when an adult breaks a bone, it usually breaks all the way through.  In children, small fractures can happen that only "dent" the bone rather than break it all the way throughout.

There is no such thing, that i know, called sitz bone. The bones we sit on are the ischiums.
Sitz baths are used for hemorrhoids or after surgery for them.
