how long does it take to start loosing bone after a molar extraction?

Within first year: After tooth extraction, assuming (4) walls are preserved, the body will fill with blood clot, and ultimately fill in with bone. Over time, especially in the 1st year, you will see bone resorption in 2 directions (loss in height, and width). Bone thickness plays a factor in creating an ideal site for an implant and final crown. You need enough bone for the implant, and to support the soft tissue.

Reasonable fees: Those fees sound reasonable. Sure you could spend less and easily spend a lot more.  If you trust the dentist and feel confident, then do it, otherwise get a second opinion.  It's your mouth, you always have the choice to do as you feel comfortable.

Granulation tissue: Probably granulation tissue. See dentist if doesn't resolve within a couple weeks.

Go back: To the doctor that removed the tooth. Sometime the bone is alive and somestimes ti is a small dead piece, a spicule. They will render appropriate therapy.

Yes: If adequate bone remains, that is usually the best time for a bone graft since the healing process is in full effect with tooth removal.

Probably not: Extraction sites vary in the amount of time it takes for them to close, ive seen them take a year, if u r having no pain i wouldnt worry about it, if it has been over 2weeks and the site is painfull i would go to the dentist that did the extraction and get an x ray.

It might be: The edge of the socket or a bone spicule might be the culprit. It's an easy fix: call your surgeon for a follow up.

Could be dry: Socket, or infection - go back to dentist!
