what are the signs of osteomylitis in the upper maxillary jaw. 1 doctor thinks i have it & 1 doctor says i don't! so i am going  to get a 3rd opinion. my symptoms  are cheek bone pain, ear pain, teeth/extraction site pain, & pressure. no fever.

Lack of use: The bone will slowly resorb if no tooth is present.  If you don't use it you lose  it!  a bone graft and a dental implant will prevent bone loss.

i feel something poking me on the inside of my gum after 2 weeks of getting a tooth extraction. could this be bone forming there?

Could be: But most likely it is the edge of the socket where the tooth was extracted. Let your dentist take a look and you will know for sure.

11 days after tooth extraction, clot fell out and bone was exposed; now i see cavity-like marks on it and it mildly hurts. should i be worried?

Post op issue: Have it looked at by the dentist who extracted it. This is normally considered part of routine free follow up aftercare.

Not required...: If you want to support the gum tissue or for to support an implant in the future, then it's a good idea.

are there any risks from a synthetic bone graft after tooth extraction?

Accepted Answer

Not much: Mostly just chance of rejection of the graft but even that is not much.  Talk to your provider.  It is done to maintain bone structure and can be very helpful if an implant is planned.
