Bone lesion: There are many potential things here, and a malignant tumor is one of the least likely things at your age. Cysts, infection, numerous benign lesions and the rare cancer can all present as a radiographic finding. A good radiologist will be able to give the likely possibilities, but if a biopsy is needed, many of these require someone with significant experience with bone lesions.

i have had kidney cancer. i just got my  ct scan back and they report a lesion on my right ilium bone possible a bone island. could this be cancer?

Maybe: I'd favor a bone island. Adult kidney cancer can do anything, including turning up in one bone years later. However, if the radiologist's first thought is "bone island", and you're comfortable with watchful waiting, and your physician is as well, the best thing might to be watch it. Truth is, i'd be quite surprised if it were metastatic cancer.

Rare but occurs: Carcinoma of cervix , spread by lymphatic , to adjacent nodes and viscera , rarely spread to bones less than 2% of time.

Bladder cancer: The oncologist and urologist who know the patient best should be the ones to answer your question. Involvement of the abdominal aorta is very concerning. Many patients develop widespread involvement of the pelvic area with eventual blockages of both ureters leading to kidney failure. Oncology,radiology and urology would collaborate in such cases to offer palliative care.

It depends: If you are 76, your Dad must be late 80s or early 90s.  At such an advanced age it may not be worth being so aggressive with terminal cancer that at such advanced stage means he has only few weeks to few months left. However, if his desire is to be aggressive, Cyberknife is an effective an low risk procedure and I would recommend it highly. Otherwise, hospice care is very appropriate.

can a bone profile detect cancer?

Not specifically: The bone profile test checks the blood for different indicators of bone metabolism. This measures the calcium, phosphate, albumin, alkaline phosphatase. If there are abnormalities that signal some problem with the bone metabolism-this could trigger additional tests for cancer of the bone-the best being radiographs.
